CelloJoe is an anomaly in the world of cellists. By combining cello with beatboxing, he has created a unique genre: classical hip hop.

Looped and layered beatboxing beats (vocal percussion) and funky cello form a rich soundscape for intelligent lyrics; CelloJoe spreads joy, laughter and consciousness raising vibrations. CelloJoe’s eclectic sound also incorporates the style of old time, jug band, blues and kids’s music.

Spreading curiosity and a sense of wonder through music, Hannah Smith, better known as Eitch (pronounced “H”) is anything but ordinary. Obsessed with the notion that not everything is as it seems, Eitch uses her lyrics as a means to tell a story that is both of human nature and otherworldly origin.

In 2010, Eitch released her debut album ‘Everything, Nothing’, and is currently in the studio working on her next release ‘Health’, a 4-track EP which will be made available in May 2013. Often compared to the likes of The Knife, Bjork, and CocoRosie, this native New Yorker and newly San Francisco resident, has carved a lane all for herself by producing and programming 100% of her music and mapping out intricate vocal arrangements to complement the free form of her instrumentals. Live, Eitch has chosen to share the stage with genre-bending producer and DJ, Ian Stewart, and together they showcase a theatrically charged performance of alternative, electronic, and pop — or what they’ve playfully coined as “Altronipop” — to provide people with an enticing template to self reflect.

This year Eitch will be taking the stage at several outdoor summer music festivals, including Wakarusa and The Big Up.

In 2004, around the time I turned 30, I started introducing myself with that. I’d met and been deeply inspired by the great visionary artist Alex Grey, quit the factory job, and began a nearly year-long road trip exploring life and the country where I was born in an old pick-up truck named Suzie-Q.

The exploration continues.

Life appears to be made up of a truly overwhelming grid of gifts, and each one increases in elegance and detail the closer we look. Upon reflection, the only appropriate response to these gifts seems to be gratitude. I try to make art about that.

I pledge to do my best work for the highest good, to practice my art as a way of spiritually awakening myself and others.

Melissa Josue is a certified journal facilitator (CJF) through the Therapeutic Writing Institute and has been journaling for over 20 years. She has personally experienced the transformative quality that journaling offers in raising awareness, bringing clarity and facilitating connection to spirit. Melissa is also an internationally published writer and has served as the editor for the Filipina Women’s Network V-Diaries and national communications director for KAYA, a grassroots civic engagement organization. She lives in San Francisco with her family.

Come learn methods of balancing your chakra system in order to encourage healing physically, emotionally and spiritually. This is a detailed workshop that includes asana, mediation, color and sound therapy, internal reflection, and group exercise. Gain a deeper understanding of your current state and how you can balance each one on a daily basis.

The first class we will discuss the 1st three chakras.  We will tap into our sense of security as well as, Chakras 2 and 3 (Sensuality and Power). This week we will be discussing your level of intimacy, with others and yourself. The third chakra is your fire, determination and will. This is your sense of individuality.

For the second class we will be exploring the 4th chakra, which is the heart chakra. We will be discussing compassion, love and forgiveness. The 5th Chakra is our communication or throat chakra. Talks will be around speaking the truth and tapping into your creativity. The 3rd Eye or 6th Chakra relates to Intuition and the 7th chakra is enlightenment. If you missed last week, feel free to jump in. There’s no sequence to the workshops. And makeups will be provided.

Sacred Art   is an important aspect of eastern spiritual traditions, and Tantra is no exception. Mandalas, Yantras and figurative depictions of the Divine are another means through which we can explore our own nature. But how can you learn to identify what you see in the Yogic world- what is sacred, and what is simply art, what are the avenues to explore and practice?

Join talented artist and teacher Ekabhumi Ellik to explore Sacred Art in this tradition, and learn how to recognize, feel, practice, honor, and create it with integrity. This workshop is six hours in length and includes a delicious and balanced Yogic Meal provided by Shri Cuisine.

A class for anyone who wishes to actually make sacred art. Participants in this two-day workshop will make a Yantra of Ganesha. A yantra is a form of sacred geometry, a device for expanding awareness. Ganesha is the benevolent elephant-headed deity of auspicious beginnings. No prior experience is necessary! We’ll also cover some of the basic practices artists can use to purify, align, and protect themselves while making sacred art. This is not an initiation into a specific spiritual practice, but rather a set of tools anyone can apply to spiritual practice. Students who have already made a Ganesha yantra are welcome and will be guided to work on other projects. Additional materials cost required.
